The first real test in the Landesliga comes this Saturday. At 2:30 p.m., Tscherms Marling hosts Olimpia Meran. Both teams are expected to be among the top contenders again this season. Tscherms Marling has shown consistent improvement in recent years, while Olimpia finished last season in a strong third place. However, the Meran side had to cope with a significant personnel overhaul during the summer.
The duel between Kiens and Latzfons Verdings has a unique history. Just at the end of May, the two teams faced each other in the decisive match for the championship of the 1st Amateur League. Latzfons Verdings won convincingly 4-1, securing direct promotion. Kiens followed shortly after, winning the promotion playoff against St. Martin Moos and returning to the Landesliga after just one year. Now, the two teams meet again at the start of the season.

On Sunday, all eyes will be on Auer. The home team faces a historic match: after winning the championship in the 1st Amateur League, Auer will compete in the Landesliga for the very first time. However, their debut match is against a prominent opponent in SSV Brixen. The Eisack Valley team arrives as a relegated side from the Oberliga and are aiming for a top finish after a difficult season last year.
Oberliga: The promoted teams are in demand
The opening matches of the Oberliga (fifth tier) also feature several South Tyrolean derbies and interesting tests of strength. Bruneck is a particularly anticipated match. After 24 years, the Puster Valley team is back in the highest regional amateur league. Last season, Roberto Fuschini's squad dominated the Landesliga (sixth tier) and comfortably secured the championship title. However, their opening match against Comano is a formidable opponent from last season's Oberliga.Naturns is also back in the Oberliga. The team from the lower Vinschgau region finished second in the Landesliga behind Bruneck and has made its return after a two-year absence. On the first matchday, Naturns will face Tramin, a long-standing fixture in the Oberliga and aiming to be among the league's top teams this season.

An interesting South Tyrolean derby is also taking place in St. Pauls. The team from Überetsch will host Partschins, who secured their place in the league after a strong second half of last season and underwent significant personnel changes over the summer. Both teams are aiming to take the next step this season and could demonstrate their ambitions right from the opening match.
