Oberliga: Draws galore

Five of the seven matches in the Oberliga ended in draws on Sunday. The South Tyrolean teams were involved in some turbulent games.

Virtus Bolzano secured a 1-1 draw at home against Comano in the top-of-the-table clash in the Oberliga, extending their unbeaten run to six games. However, the team from Bolzano also missed the opportunity to widen the gap to their pursuers.

The visitors took the lead in the 18th minute through Mirco Sottovia after a free kick, but Bolzano's response was swift: just four minutes later, Matteo Timpone leveled the score at 1-1 – and that's how it remained until the final whistle. In the league table, Virtus maintains its lead with 48 points from 24 games, keeping Rovereto five points clear, while Comano Fiavè remains in fifth place with 41 points.

The regional derby between Union Trento and FC Bozen also ended in a draw. The visitors twice took the lead in Trento, but ultimately had to settle for a 2-2 result. Emanuele Bocchio put Bozen ahead in the 30th minute with a penalty, but Thomas Ferrari equalized just three minutes later. After the break, Aron Bajrami seemed to put the orange-and-blacks on course for victory with his goal in the 74th minute, before the final stages became turbulent: First, Trento's Yassir Dsiri was sent off in the 88th minute, then Simone Fratucello salvaged a point for the hosts in the 90th minute.

Brixen and St. Georgen squander double lead

The other matches also offered plenty of drama. Brixen squandered a 2-0 lead against Benacense after goals from Nicholas Makar (34th minute) and Hannes Ausserhofer (44th minute) had given them a seemingly comfortable advantage. However, the game turned around in the final stages: Matteo Risatti Senior pulled one back in the 80th minute, and Davide Grossi equalized in the 96th minute to make it 2-2. The match between St. Georgen and Rovereto followed a similar pattern.

Pusterer got off to a dream start with goals from Grujic Nemanja (2nd minute) and Schwingshackl Philipp (20th minute), taking an early 2-0 lead, but they couldn't hold onto it. Before halftime, Cescatti Nicolò pulled one back to make it 2-1, before Amadori Victor scored a late equalizer in the 90th minute to make it 2-2.

The only South Tyrol derby between Val Gardena and Ahrntal was cancelled due to the considerable amount of fresh snow.
