Now the hour has struck, and Obermais can make history. On Sunday, the league leaders will play in Brixen not only for the title, but also for promotion to Serie D. The Burggräfler team has played excellent football throughout the season, and this could pay off on Matchday 28.
But what is the mood among the blue and whites, how do they deal with such a situation? SportNews asked the sporting director Christian Platzer, who willingly provided information.
FCO sports director Christian Platzer answered questions.
On Sunday, you'll face Brixen for the title and promotion. How are you feeling?
Christian Platzer: "We would certainly prefer a home game, so we could potentially convert the match point at home. It will be very tough in Brixen; they are difficult to beat, but we still want to seal the deal – we are convinced we can win. There's a certain euphoria within the club, within the team, and even if you look at our spectators. I'm sure many fans will make the trip to Brixen."
Obermais has dominated this season so far. When did you finally realize that things might finally work out this year?
"Finally making it work – that's not our motto. We've always had great players, but we also always play with very young players. Sometimes it seems to me as if the media have too much faith in us, think too highly of us. There aren't many teams where players born in 2006/07 are regular starters. Nevertheless, we believed in it from the start. The crucial point, I think, was the match against Virtus at home (Abeginning of November,Editor's noteed.). In front of a large crowd, we dominated against Virtus, played brilliantly, and deservedly won 1-0. I think that was the moment."
If Virtus loses in the parallel match, the title would be secured. Are you keeping an eye on your rival?
"We'll focus 100% on ourselves and try to win. If we end up losing and Anaune wins in Bolzano, we'll still celebrate with mixed feelings—because you always want to win. However, we're assuming Virtus will win at home and that they still believe in the title. Second place is also at stake for them. It's simple: We have to win, and we're focused on that."

While the Obermais team is fighting for the title, they can expect a difficult match in Brixen. The cathedral city team is fighting for survival in the Oberliga against the league leaders and must score points in the final three games of the season if they want to avoid relegation. Here, Brixen coach Manuel Sullmann describes his view of the upcoming game.
Regional league quartet chases title
In the regional league, on the other hand, there's still a bit of a wait for a championship celebration. League leader Gherdëina will attempt to hold off its rivals on Friday against Gitschberg Jochtal. At the same time, Bruneck, which is in third place with 53 points, will play against Tscherms Marling. On Sunday, Ahrntal will attempt to snag those all-important points in the final stretch against Salurn, while the fourth title contender, Naturns, will face Weinstraße Süd. All four teams can still win the regional league title – now it counts.Oberliga, 28th matchday
