Thanks to Obermais: Naturns is promoted to the Oberliga.

The penultimate matchday of the Landesliga season took place on Sunday. It was a day of decisions – both in the promotion race and in the fight to avoid relegation.

Newly crowned champions SSV Bruneck held their big championship celebration at home in the Reiperting sports complex on Sunday – and SSV Naturns joined in the fun! Weithaler scored an early goal to give the Lower Vinschgau team a 1-0 victory.

Thanks to the three points in the top match in Reischach, Naturns kept the in-form third-placed Olimpia Meran (3:0 against Latsch) at bay and secured the runner-up title – and promotion at the same time! Since Obermais secured Vigasio's continued participation in Series D in a true thriller.It is already certain that both the runner-up from the Trentino regional league (Vipo Trento) and the runner-up from South Tyrol will be promoted to the Oberliga. Otherwise, a play-off match would have determined the sole promoted team.

The joy in Naturns was correspondingly great when the news arrived from Vigasio long after the final whistle. The SSV players had gathered on the pitch in Reischach and waited for the final whistle of the Obermais match.

Lana almost saved

Meanwhile, at the bottom of the table, all eyes were on the long-distance duel between Stegen and Lana. The match was about staying in the Landesliga – and Lana now has their hopes within reach. They won a thrilling Etschtal derby against FC Terlan 3-2. Fumai, Grezzani, and Telser scored the goals that secured the victory for Lana in front of a packed stadium.

Since Stegen simultaneously lost 0-2 against Gitschberg Jochtal, a draw on the final matchday is enough for Lana to avoid relegation. Stegen, along with Freienfeld and Schenna, is threatened with relegation to the 1st Amateur League.

In all other Landesliga matches on Sunday, home wins were celebrated, with the exception of Marling's 1-0 victory in Leifers.
