Regional tournament: This is how the South Tyrolean kick-off went
The South Tyrolean U19, U17, and U15 men's national teams, as well as the U21 women's national team, kicked off their 2026 regional tournament on Saturday. Each team suffered a defeat against Lazio in their opening matches. The junior players, in particular, were disappointed afterward.

On Friday, South Tyrol's teams traveled to Apulia, the host city for the 62nd edition of the regional tournament. The first match day for each group began on Saturday and concludes on Monday. Group C kicked off with matches against Lazio. Their other group opponents are Umbria and Basilicata.
In their opening match, the U15 team suffered a clear 0-7 defeat against Lazio. South Tyrol's U17 team, however, put up a good fight but lost 1-2. Philipp Nössing from Weinstraße Süd scored the goal. The women's U21 team then suffered a 0-2 defeat.

In the evening, the U19 team put on a strong performance, which ultimately went unrewarded. Lazio prevailed again, this time with a 2-1 victory. South Tyrol's juniors played exceptionally well, especially in the first half. The goal was scored by Leonardo Bonato of FC Bolzano. Afterwards, captain Elias Zeni of the regional league club Terlan gave a summary of the match, which can be seen in the video above.
