Victory in the top game: Ahrntal reaches for the Oberliga

This top-of-the-table clash was a real thrill: With ten men, SSV Ahrntal defeated the only undefeated team in the regional league. And they did it with just a few minutes to go. The Teldra are running away!

“This will be a real football festival for the Ahrntal,” Thomas Ritsch predicted in an interview with SportNews a few days ago. And so it came to pass! Ahrntal-Coach and his protégés celebrated a much-celebrated 1-0 victory against NaturnoWith this success in the absolute summit meeting, the Oberliga is getting much closer for Ahrntal.


The two best regional league teams squared off throughout the game. It was clear that both were primarily concerned with avoiding a fatal defeat. This seemed to be looming for Ahrntal when Simon Oberhollenzer was sent off with a second yellow card shortly before halftime. But the northernmost regional league team once again showed what they're made of. With ten men, they defeated the previously unbeaten Naturno team. Substitute Matthias Gaisler scored the winning goal in the 85th minute.

Due to this defeat, Naturns loses a lot of ground in the title race – also because Val Gardena in Latzfons in the very last minute to secure the win and cement their second place in the table. Dragush Masha scored a penalty in the 92nd minute to secure the visitors' 1-0 victory. The Ladins remained unbeaten for the sixth consecutive match, but it was a bitter setback for Latzfons Verdings in the relegation battle.

Bruneck loses contact with the top

In addition to Naturns, Brunico The badly decimated Pustertal team had to settle for a draw with their neighbours Laces 1:2. Bruneck took the lead before halftime through Luca Lorenzi, but immediately after the restart, Latsch's attacking players Samuel Weiss and Alex Kiem turned the tables.
The SV Lanawho the Wine Route South away from home with a 5-1 victory, thus taking a deep breath in the relegation battle. The match in Kurtatsch was interrupted for a long time after Lana's striker Lorenzo Antino suffered a shoulder injury, but his teammates subsequently secured a clear victory.

A victory would also have Kiens desperately needed, but instead Martin Ritsch and Co. had to Leifers the fourth defeat in a row. While the situation for Kiens is becoming increasingly precarious, Leifers is climbing into the top half of the table. Gitschberg and Schenna, who at least collected an important point in the fight to stay in the league in the 1:1 direct duel.
