St. Pauls and Selva defend their titles

Last Saturday, the best VSS footballers in the state met in Vahrn in the recreational and small-field categories to compete for the coveted VSS/Raiffeisen state championship title. The previous year's title winners were once again able to celebrate their victory.

In the recreational category, the final was a rematch of last year's final. The defending champions, AFC St. Pauls, once again proved too tough a challenge for the Val Gardena team against FC Runcadic. After 90 hard-fought minutes, the team from the Überetsch region celebrated a hard-fought 3-1 victory, successfully defending their title. This means that AFC St. Pauls are the VSS/Raiffeisen recreational state champions for the second year in a row.

In small-field football, the state champion once again comes from Wolkenstein this year. FC Selva entered the tournament as favorites and secured the VSS/Raiffeisen small-field state championship title again this year with a 3-1 victory in the final against ASV Stilfs.

Selva was once again unbeatable in small-field football.

“It was an exciting season with a fantastic finale. My thanks go to all the players, referees, coaches and officials who are on duty week after week to make successful sporting activities possible,” said VSS Chairman Paul Romen at the awards ceremony.
