Of drunken teenagers and hapless diamond miners

The MythosMorktplotz is entering its final phase. On Thursday, the large crowd witnessed a potpourri of tactics, drama, and memorable performances.

GROUP F

If Group F were a Wikipedia entry, it would probably be under the keyword "evenly matched." Four of the six matches ended in draws, three of them even 0-0—which speaks, on the one hand, for solid defenses, but, on the other, also for strikers who struggle to score goals like Bayern fans struggle to score sympathy points.

There were plenty of chances. But like blind diamond miners, all teams missed great opportunities in the penalty area. Although only seven goals were scored in total, there could easily have been twice as many.

Curiously, the few victories remained in a logical cycle: Oltry beat the Forellen, who in turn defeated the Pfuschar, and VinoBiancos FC was the tactical chameleon with three draws – minimalism at its finest.

GROUP G

The Morktplotz myth can be beautiful, but also gruesome. This was the experience of RB Montfort, the friendly regular visitors from the Ländle region. They've been honored to be at St. Paul's for nine years – and this year it was finally their turn to experience success. Or so you thought.

They played well, were combative – but ultimately, they lacked nuance. They narrowly lost the first two matches. In the final match against Tornado Terlan, however, Montfort once again showed what they were capable of: more fighting spirit than a drunken teenager negotiating with security at the local disco at 3:00 a.m.
The 2-1 victory didn't do much good in terms of the game, but it did shake up the group considerably. Now Sausalitos Sig and Tornado Terlan not only had the same number of points, but also the same goal difference. The organizing committee had to dig deep into the rules and let the "Classifica Avulsa" decide.

GROUP H

There hasn't been a major fall from grace for the favorites in this Morktplotz edition yet – but Arminia Bierzelt was already on its way to the emergency exit. Two defeats to start, and the final match against Knedl from Jenesien turned into the final.
And then: shock. Behind.
The beer was stale, the tent was shaking, and Arminia was on the brink. But as befits a true champion, Arminia turned the game around with their last bit of strength and probably a silent prayer, holding on to their narrow lead until the end.
Meanwhile, Frido's disciples marched almost unnoticed through the group: three games, three wins, 5:0 goals – the nerds of the preliminary round, but so much so.
