FC Südtirol is on course for the play-offs

Mister Giovanni Stroppa had to do without the injured Luca Franchini and Matteo Chinellato on the 13th matchday of the second half of the season, as well as the ill Manuel Fiwickeler at the last moment. He also made a few other changes. Instead of Cascone, he placed Tagliani in the center of defense, brought Bacher into midfield and moved Campo up front.

The home team took command from the first minute and pushed Latina into their own half. When Latina was able to free herself from the hold, the FCS responded with a dangerous counterattack. After just four minutes, Campo hit the ball on the post and Gianetti, who was running with him, scored to make it 1-0. The game couldn't have started better for the South Tyroleans.

The guests seemed paralyzed after the early goal and that's why it was still the hosts who set the tone in the Drusus Stadium. In the 16th minute, Giannetti completed a nice combination between himself, Michael Bacher and Alessandro Campo with a shot on the move - but the ball went well over Latina's box. Afterwards the rain increased, which also affected the game due to the slippery pitch and the game literally splashed along. The narrow lead remained at the break.

Ten minutes after the restart, the White-Reds became dangerous after a set-piece situation. Campo's free kick was fended off by Martinuzzi, and Uliano's follow-up shot went about a meter past the box. Now the hosts became stronger and looked for the preliminary decision, which they succeeded in the 58th minute. Giannetti passed the ball from midfield to Campo, who played around the goalkeeper who was rushing out of the goal and scored from the tightest angle to make it 2-0. So the die was cast.

Stroppa now strengthened his already solid defense and FC Südtirol controlled the game. Only once, in the 71st minute, did things get a little dicey when Iacobucci parried away a Giannusa free kick. On the ensuing corner kick, Jefferson headed the ball past the goal.

Not much happened after that, FC Südtirol more than deservedly beat Latina 2-0. The course towards the play-off has been set four rounds before the end - it will be interesting to see whether Captain Stroppa can keep his ship there until the end.
