“After Piacenza we face another tricky game on Sunday, the outcome of which is of great importance for our safe survival in the league. For us, staying in this league is still the big goal of this championship and we don’t want to think about anything else at the moment,” explains FCS coach Giovanni Stroppa.

FC Südtirol recently remained unbeaten two times in a row, increasing the gap to the playout zone to eight points. In contrast to the goalless draw in Piacenza, Stroppa has to change the starting line-up: Alessio Grea is suspended due to his fourth yellow card, and the injured Luca Franchini, Thomas Albanese and Michael Bacher are also missing. Instead of Grea, Alessandro Campo could again play in the right midfield.

League newcomer Feralpisalò further improved a series of four games unbeaten with their win against Triestina last Sunday. Since the draw in the first round game against FCS, the team from the province of Brescia has made three important new acquisitions between October and December: midfielder Davide Drascek brought with him the experience of three seasons in Serie B. Jaroslav Sedivec, also in midfield, has 221 games and 25 goals in Serie B under his belt, namely for Catania, Perugia, Crotone, Triestina and Mantova. Another hopeful, the dangerous former Salernitana striker, Antonio Montella, is suspended for the game against FC Südtirol. However, the outstanding player at Feralpisalò remains the 33-year-old attacking midfielder Emiliano Tarana, who made three appearances in Serie A with Perugia in his long career and crowned 324 games in Serie B with 26 goals.

The role of reserve goalkeeper is played by Davide Zomer, who was retired by FC Südtirol after missing the last championship game of last season. He returns to his old place of work as an opponent for the first time.
