A dream in white: Donnarumma celebrates a secret VIP wedding

Gianluigi Donnarumma has tied the knot with his great love – and unlike the usual contracts in professional football, for life. His wedding was attended by several prominent names.

With Erling Haaland as a guest, a certain act was of course not to be missed: As the wedding celebration of Gianluigi Donnarumma and his childhood sweetheart Alessia Elefante gradually turned into a boisterous party, the Norwegian super striker appeared as an entertainer and really got the guests fired up with the fan chant “Viking Row”, which went viral at the World Cup.

Haaland, Donnarumma's teammate at Manchester City, was not the only prominent guest at the celebrations in Apulia. Former Italian national coach Roberto Mancini, under whose leadership the goalkeeper became European champion in the summer of 2021, was also recognizable in the few photos taken.

Otherwise, the guest list remained largely secret: Italian media speculate about the presence of names such as Jannik Sinner, who is friends with Donnarumma, Pep Guardiola, Paolo Maldini, and Giovanni Malagò. In total, nearly 300 people are said to have attended the exclusive celebrations.

Donnarumma gets married in a picturesque location

Following their civil ceremony in early May in Castellammare di Stabia, which took place with only close family and friends present, Donnarumma and "his" Alessia exchanged vows in a church wedding late Friday afternoon in the center of Locorotondo. With its whitewashed streets and characteristic "cummerse" – sloping stone roofs – the village is considered one of the most beautiful in Puglia.

The wedding took place in the parish church of San Giorgio Martire, a local landmark. The municipality developed a special security and traffic plan for the event: roads around the church were closed to ensure the smooth running of the festivities.
