Bayern and Heidenheim are at the top of the Bundesliga

Led by the young German-Austrian dual citizen Paul Wanner, 1. FC Heidenheim has continued its upward trend and is at the top of the German Bundesliga table for the first time. But FC Bayern Munich was also successful.

The Swabians from Heidenheim beat FC Augsburg 4-0 on Sunday and celebrated their fifth win in five competitive matches of the season. Heidenheim leads ahead of Bayern Munich, who also have six points after two rounds thanks to a 2-0 win against SC Freiburg.

Bayern loanee Wanner put Heidenheim in the lead with a handball penalty (9th minute) and now has four goals in competitive matches. Léo Scienza (30th minute), Adrian Beck (69th minute) and Maximilian Breunig (73rd minute) scored the other goals in front of 15.000 spectators and ensured another day of celebration in the Ostalb region. Mathias Honsak came on for Heidenheim, who qualified for the Conference League, in the 81st minute.

Heidenheim leads thanks to the better goal difference ahead of Bayern and RB Leipzig. The Munich team did their duty in Thomas Müller's personal record game and won in front of 75.000 spectators in the sold-out arena after goals from Harry Kane (38th minute/handball penalty) and Müller (78th minute). The substitute native Bavarian made his 710th competitive appearance for the German record champions against the South Baden team, making him the club's sole record player ahead of former World Cup goalkeeper Sepp Maier (709).
