FC Bayern Munich continues to hold off champions Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga title race. The Munich team won a tricky away match at FC Augsburg 3-1 (1-1) and extended their lead over the Rhinelanders to nine points. However, Bayern are threatened with the loss of another key player ahead of their Champions League quarterfinal against Inter Milan: German international Jamal Musiala was forced off injured in the second half.
Shortly before halftime, Musiala had initiated the turnaround with his equalizer (42nd minute). Striker Harry Kane, with his 23rd goal of the season (60th minute), and Leroy Sané (90th+3) finally sealed the victory. Augsburg had initially taken the lead through Dimitris Giannoulis (30th minute). Shortly before Kane's goal, FCA player Cédric Zesiger had been shown a second yellow card for a second time (58th minute).
