Bonucci takes on Juventus: “They humiliated me”

Leonardo Bonucci played 502 games for Juventus. The “marriage” came to an end in the summer and the defender moved to Union Berlin. Now the former Juventus captain has resigned against his former club.

“I have heard things from the club and the coach that are not true. That's why I decided to take legal action," said Bonucci in an interview with the media group Mediaset. A few days ago it was announced that the Italian had sued Juventus.

The defender claims he was offered a new contract in October last year and in February. Juve coach Max Allegri recently said on DAZN that it was made clear to Bonucci in February that his path with the Turin team was over. “That is wrong, the opposite was the case. In May I even offered the club the opportunity to continue playing as the fifth or sixth defender in the squad,” said Bonucci.

Bonucci describes the fact that he only found out in July – and from the media – that he would be removed from the squad as a “humiliation”. Afterwards, Bonucci was no longer allowed to train with the first team. Instead, the veteran had to do individual training. He was also denied access to the weight room and swimming pool. “I felt empty because I could no longer do what I love most.”
