Frankfurt's wait continues – Bremen spectacular

The Füllkrug show at Werder Bremen simply continues. Against FC Augsburg, Bremen spectacularly turned around a 0-2 deficit in the Bundesliga.

A powerful shot from Niclas Füllkrug (86th minute) and the winning goal from the long-injured Mitchell Weiser (90+3) secured a late but well-deserved 3-2 (0-1) victory. Former German international Füllkrug has now scored in three consecutive matches since returning from West Ham United.

Frankfurt, who suffered a 1-4 home defeat against Augsburg two weeks ago, will have to wait for their first home win since March. However, Hütter's team did manage to halt Freiburg's winning streak. Younes Ebnoutalib, who received his first call-up to the German national team, scored his fourth goal of the season (10th minute), and Jonathan Burkardt (36th minute) twice put Eintracht in the lead. Freiburg equalized each time through Derry Scherhant (34th minute) and Yuito Suzuki (48th minute). With ten points after four rounds, the Breisgau side are level on points with champions Bayern Munich.

HSV achieves a breakthrough

Mainz moved up to fifth place with a 4-3 win against bottom-of-the-table Borussia Mönchengladbach, who are sinking deeper into crisis. Gladbach remain without a point even after parting ways with coach Eugen Polanski. Meanwhile, HSV finally got on the scoresheet, securing their first goals and points of the season with a 2-1 home victory against 1. FC Köln. Nicolas Capaldo broke the deadlock just before halftime with a header (43'). Yussuf Poulsen added another goal (49').
