Glasner's farewell from Frankfurt sealed

Less than twelve months after the triumph in the Europa League, the early departure of coach Oliver Glasner from Eintracht Frankfurt is a done deal.

The Austrian football teacher and the Hessian Bundesliga club will part ways after the cup final against RB Leipzig on June 3rd. The club confirmed corresponding media reports on Tuesday evening “after long and intensive discussions as well as a detailed analysis” with Glasner. The decisive factor was the “athletic development and the overall presentation in the second half of the season,” it said.

“I accept the decision of the club management, which was plausibly explained to me,” Glasner was quoted as saying in the club’s announcement. Now is not the time to say goodbye or look back, “we still have a crucial mission ahead of us,” explained Glasner with a view to the DFB Cup final. “It is very important to me personally that Eintracht can celebrate great nights on the international stage again in the coming season.”

No surprise

Last Sunday, Frankfurt's board spokesman Axel Hellmann indicated that the club's management had lost trust in Glasner. The decision has now been made that the Eintracht coach will not fulfill his contract, which is valid until summer 2024.
