Ingolstadt training camp in Latsch a great success

After many years, a professional football club was once again brought to Latsch. The training camp of the former Bundesliga club FC Ingolstadt 04 was a complete success.

The FCI completed its training camp at the Latsch sports facilities from July 14 to July 21. The current third division team successfully got the finishing touches for the new season.

There were also two test matches on the programme: a Vinschgau selection was beaten 9-0. The Vinschgau selection fought back bravely, but in the end the class difference was evident in the game in Latsch. It was significantly more difficult for FCI against Serie A club FC Empoli, who were preparing for the new season in Natz. Ingolstadt was able to convince in the high-class test match that took place in Kaltern and secured a 0-0 draw.

Optimal conditions

"The conditions here in Latsch are perfect," praised FCI sports director Ivica Grlic. The team around coach Sabrina Wittmann was also enthusiastic about the environment in the Vinschgau sports village. A side note: Wittmann was the first female head coach in German professional football. She took over the team at the beginning of May and was appointed head coach for the new season.

FC Ingolstadt is aiming for a place in the top third of the table this season. In the medium term, the club, which played in the Bundesliga from 2015 to 2017, wants to return to the 2nd Bundesliga. In any case, the foundations for a successful season were laid in Latsch. The 3rd league begins at the beginning of August, and the first round of the DFB Cup is scheduled for mid-August. FCI will face last year's finalists, second division club Kaiserslautern, as outsiders.
