Leipzig walks into the DFB Cup final

Defending champions RB Leipzig have once again reached the final of the DFB Cup – with a real shooting festival in Freiburg.

Led by outstanding playmaker Dani Olmo, the defending champions celebrated a clear 5-1 victory in the semi-finals on Tuesday at SC Freiburg.

In the new edition of the final from the previous season, Olmo (13th minute) put the guests in the lead. The Spanish international then prepared the goals of Benjamin Henrichs (14th), Dominik Szoboszlai (37th) and Christopher Nkunku (45th + 1st) before Szoboszlai scored the final score with a penalty (90th + 7th).

Decision before the break

RB defender Josko Gvardiol was shown a red card in the 58th minute after video evidence of an emergency brake, after which there was turmoil in the Freiburg stadium, first on the pitch and later off it. A Leipzig substitute player was hit by an object under the Freiburg fan curve, and some supporters then jumped over the barriers towards the lawn. However, the situation was quickly brought under control. As a result, Freiburg only managed a goal from Michael Gregoritsch (75th).
