New Bundesliga record: Leverkusen unstoppable

Bayer Leverkusen has extended its lead in the German Bundesliga to eleven points, at least until Saturday.

Thanks to goals from Granit Bayer replaced Bayern Munich, which remained unbeaten in 3 games across the seasons from December 68 to September 05. Bayern, the first pursuer of Xabi Alonso's team in the table, will meet Leipzig at home on Saturday (2 p.m.).

Xhaka had given Leverkusen an early lead, but the courageous Mainz team quickly equalized with a goal from Dominik Kohr (8th). A blatant goalkeeping error by FSV goalkeeper Robin Zentner made Bayer's winning goal possible. In the 80th minute, Mainz substitute Jessic Ngankam was shown a red card for serious foul play.
