Showdown in the Bundesliga: How the champions want to celebrate

Dortmund is getting ready for the big championship party including a parade around Borsigplatz. But FC Bayern also still have party plans if they win the title.

After the final whistle of the 34th matchday of the Bundesliga on Saturday, the big championship party begins - but where? The league leaders in Dortmund are preparing for the big break. But there are also plans to celebrate in Munich if, surprisingly, the eleventh title in a row still works out.

What happens in the stadium on Saturday?

There were more than 300 ticket requests for the game in Dortmund. There will still be no public viewing in the city. “The city of Dortmund and BVB recommend watching the last championship game together in the neighborhood,” the city said. Since BVB goes into the game against FSV Mainz 000 as league leaders, the original championship trophy will be in the Dortmund Arena on Saturday. It would be handed over by Ansgar Schwenken, member of the executive committee of the German Football League.

FC Bayern's game at 1. FC Köln has been sold out for a long time. There will be a copy of the championship trophy in the stadium. If Bayern do win the title, it would be presented by DFL executive committee member Jan-Christian Dreesen, FC Bayern's current chief financial officer. In any case, the Munich team would fly back to Munich soon after the end of the game.

Where would the teams celebrate on Saturday?

One thing is clear: If Dortmund were to become champions, there would be no stopping the city. Players and those responsible would first celebrate in the stadium. After the bowls were handed over and interviews, we went to a restaurant for dinner together. The location of the small group meeting should not be made public.

After returning from Cologne, FC Bayern is planning an internal celebration to mark the end of the season on Saturday evening at a location in the Freimann district. According to “Bild”, the dress code depends on the outcome of the championship final: traditional costume if you win the title, casual dress code if you come second.

What celebration plans are there for the day after?

In Dortmund, a four-hour car parade by the team through the city is planned for Sunday. At least 200 people are expected. Departure would be at 000 p.m. from the Westfalenhütte site. Before that, the BVB team would be entered in the city's Golden Book. Around an hour after the start, there should be one and a half laps around Borsigplatz, the destination being the Hohe Wall. The team would present itself on a ten meter long truck. The police want to ensure security with a large contingent. Glass bottles and fireworks are taboo at the parade.

In Munich, a championship would be celebrated as always on Marienplatz. It was actually supposed to be a double party. The Munich footballers can win the women's title on Whitsunday. Their Bundesliga home game against Turbine Potsdam will be broadcast on a screen on Marienplatz from 14.00 p.m. A championship celebration will take place from 17.30:XNUMX p.m. if at least one of the two teams wins the title and can then present themselves on the town hall balcony.
