Fatal accident overshadows training camp in Mals

Last Saturday, Kaiserslautern arrived in Mals to prepare for the upcoming season in the second German Bundesliga. However, the training camp of last year's DFB Cup finalists is now overshadowed by a tragedy: Peter Miethe, the long-time kit manager and good soul of the club, has died in a tragic accident.

Kaiserslautern wrote this on its social media channels on Thursday morning. According to initial information, the 62-year-old lost his life in a cycling accident near Burgeis (municipality of Mals).

"Our hearts are broken. We mourn together with his family and friends for a great person. Rest in peace, dear Piet - we will miss you very much," Kaiserslautern wrote on social media.

After the fatal accident, Kaiserslautern canceled the training camp and started the journey home.
