Chelsea hires coach Rosenior from Racing Strasbourg

Club World Cup champions Chelsea have hired Liam Rosenior as their new head coach and signed him to a long-term contract.

The 41-year-old Englishman was poached from French club Racing Strasbourg and has signed a contract until June 2032, the London club announced on Tuesday. Rosenior succeeds Enzo Maresca, who was dismissed by Chelsea on New Year's Day.

“I am deeply honored and humbled. This is a club with a unique spirit and a proud history full of trophies,” Rosenior explained. He had been the coach of Racing Strasbourg since July 2024 and led the team from Alsace to seventh place in the French championship last season and to European competition for the first time in 19 years.

Chelsea is his first Premier League club, having previously only managed Championship side Hull City in his home country. Before that, he was assistant and interim manager at Derby County. American businessman Todd Boehly is a co-owner of both Racing Strasbourg and Chelsea FC.
