The Reds announced this. The exact term of the contract was not disclosed, but according to the newspaper "Liverpool Echo" and the BBC, it will be for two more seasons.
Salah has been playing at Anfield for eight years and is a fan favorite. Coach Jürgen Klopp brought the Egyptian to England from AS Roma. He has scored 394 goals in 243 games for Liverpool, making him the third most prolific player in the club's history. This season alone, the 32-year-old has already scored 32 goals, 27 of which have been in the Premier League. Salah has recently been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia or Paris Saint-Germain.
"It's great, I've had my best years here. I've played for eight years, hopefully it will be ten. I'm enjoying my life here, I'm enjoying my football," Salah said, adding: "I'm very, very happy to be here. I signed here because I believe we can win many big titles together." This season, the team looks set to be in contention for the league title, with an eleven-point lead going into their final seven games.
Will van Dijk also extend his contract?
After Salah, Liverpool could soon extend the contract of another key player. Recently, there were reports that an agreement with defensive leader Virgil van Dijk was also imminent. The Dutchman's contract expires at the end of the season. England international Trent Alexander-Arnold, on the other hand, is set to move to Real Madrid.Edit Profile
