Paul Pogba just can't seem to get back on his feet.

Former world champion Paul Pogba and AS Monaco are parting ways after just one year.

The French first division club announced that the contract with the 33-year-old, which was originally set to run until 2027, had been terminated prematurely. Monaco explained the separation by stating that, according to a mutual assessment, the originally set goals had only been partially achieved.

Pogba moved to the Principality in the summer of 2025 after being without a club. His contract with his previous club, Juventus, had also been terminated prematurely. In August 2023, following a Serie A match between Juventus and Udinese, Pogba tested positive for doping – his testosterone level was too high. The B sample confirmed the result.

Pogba ultimately proved to be no real asset for AS Monaco. The 2018 World Cup winner made only six competitive appearances last season, totaling a mere 115 minutes of playing time. "Representing this club and the principality was an incredible experience," Pogba nevertheless stated in a press release.
