A South Tyrolean farewell: "My lifelong dream fulfilled"

Fabian Lantschner led Wacker Innsbruck back to professional football from the fifth division. However, the man from the Eisack Valley will no longer be working as assistant coach for the newly promoted second-division team from North Tyrol.

The last three years have been very intense for Lantschner, as he told SportNews The report states that the 38-year-old has resigned from his position as assistant coach at his own request. Lantschner continues to work behind the scenes with the club's organization, but has withdrawn from day-to-day operations. His colleague Sebastian Siller, however, remains as head coach.

Lantschner started coaching the U14 youth team at Wacker Innsbruck in 2019. The South Tyrolean native works full-time in management at a construction management company in Innsbruck, where he is very busy. His coaching duties were no longer compatible with his job. "In addition, I've also had to put some things on hold in my personal life in recent years. The decision wasn't easy for me," Lantschner said. He also declined a management role – as sports coordinator – after careful consideration.

A unique experience

The former amateur footballer from Natz wouldn't want to miss his time as assistant coach of Wacker Innsbruck: "It was a great honor. Between 3.000 and 6.000 fans came to the Tivoli Stadium for home games. With the three consecutive promotions, we made history. It was an amazing time. I was able to fulfill my lifelong dream." Wacker also has another South Tyrolean player in its squad: winger Adrian Lechl from Lüsen.
