Grief and triumph: Flick's emotional title with Barça
After FC Barcelona's emotional title win, successful coach Hansi Flick was repeatedly tossed into the air by his players. At the trophy presentation, the 61-year-old – just hours after receiving news of his father's death – visibly moved, accepted the condolences and congratulations on another Spanish championship.

In the cauldron of the Camp Nou, Barça fans loudly chanted "Hansi, Hansi" after the 2-0 victory against arch-rivals Real Madrid. "That was a tough day for me. My father died," confessed the former national coach after the title defense.
“My team is fantastic. I love it. It’s like a family. They gave their all today. I’m really proud.” Flick also thanked the fans: “It’s great to win the championship in this stadium in the Clásico against Real Madrid.”
Title triumph against Real Madrid
Barcelona secured the league title early in front of their home fans with a decisive victory against Real Madrid. Marcus Rashford (9th minute) and Ferran Torres (18th) scored the goals for Barça in their triumphant win. With three matches remaining, the reigning champions are unassailable at the top of the table with 91 points. Just hours before the final whistle, the club announced that Flick's father had died. "FC Barcelona and the entire Blaugrana family would like to express our condolences to Hansi Flick on the death of his father. We share your pain and stand with you and your family during this difficult time," the club wrote on X.
A minute's silence for Flick's father
Despite the emotional strain, Flick chose to be on the sidelines for the top Spanish league match. Both teams wore black armbands at Camp Nou. A minute's silence was observed for Flick's father before kickoff.After the final whistle, Flick and his Barça players celebrated the Catalan club's 29th league title overall. For Flick, it's his fourth in a national league. He won the German championship with Bayern Munich in 2020 and 2021, and now he has secured two consecutive Spanish league titles with FC Barcelona.
