The Super Final: World Champions vs. European Champions

The women's football teams of world champions Spain and defending champions England will play in the final of the European Championship on Sunday (18 p.m.).

A repeat of the 2023 World Cup final will take place at St. Jakob-Park in Basel. Back then, the Spanish women, who have never won a European Championship title, won 1-0 in Australia.

For England's Dutch coach Sarina Wiegman, this will be her fifth consecutive European Championship or World Cup final. She has twice won the European Championship: in 2017 with the Dutch national team and in 2022 with England after their final victory at Wembley against Germany. A victory in the final would be her third consecutive European Championship title.

Also in the spotlight in Basel is World Footballer of the Year Aitana Bonmatí. The 27-year-old from FC Barcelona scored the winning goal for Spain in the semifinal against Germany.
