Elisa Pfattner and Austria snatch the cup

The women's football team of Austria Vienna have won the Austrian Cup for the first time. And right in the middle of it all: a 21-year-old from Latzfons.

After two lost finals, the Bundesliga dominator triumphed 1-0 over Red Bull Salzburg in Vienna on Thursday.

In front of a record cup final crowd of 4.600 fans, the favored Violettes broke through the defensive wall in the second half with a header goal by Katharina Schiechtl (52nd minute).

Austria thus followed serial cup winners SKN St. Pölten. The Lower Austrian team, who had won the cup every year since 2013, were eliminated by Austria in the second round.

Pfattner played the full 90 minutes.

Pfattner is not the only South Tyrolean piece of the Austrian women's cup triumph. Mauro Vasile He was able to join in the enthusiastic celebrations. The man from Kurtatsch works as an athletic and video analyst for the club from the Austrian capital.
