Preparation for European Championship qualification: Azzurre welcomed in Reischach

The Italian women's national team is currently in Reischach, preparing for the European Championship qualifiers. The Azzurre were officially welcomed to the Pustertal on Tuesday.

South Tyrol is and remains a popular training camp destination for many football teams. Whether from the Bundesliga, Serie A or a national team, every year some of the best football players in the world set up camp in the province of Bolzano. For example, the Azzurre women's national team are currently sweating it out there, preparing for the two European Championship qualifiers against the Netherlands (July 12) and Finland (July 16). For the Italians, these two matches are still about qualifying for the 2025 European Championship, which will be held in Switzerland from July 2 to 27.

On Tuesday, the Azzurre were officially greeted by Mayor Roland Griessmair and welcomed to Reischach. The Italian women's national team will stay in the Pustertal until July 10th before the European Championship qualifiers get underway.

Two South Tyroleans are there

Unlike the men, the Italian women's national team also includes two South Tyroleans in its squad. Katja Schroffenegger usually keeps goal for AC Florence, while Eva Schatzer pulls the strings in midfield for Sampdoria. Both of them will be up close and personal for home fans, as the match against Finland will be played on July 16 at the Drusus Stadium in Bolzano.
