In the second round of the Italian Cup, FC Südtirol will face Genoa away in early September (the exact date is yet to be announced). The Serie A club from Genoa defeated Serie B newcomers Ascoli Calcio 4-1 on Sunday evening.

FC Südtirol will once again play at the legendary Marassi Stadium this year. In Serie B, FCS will first play their home game on the first weekend of May against Sampdoria, who also play their home matches at the 33.000-capacity football temple.

Genoa will definitely be a tough opponent for FC Südtirol. The team, managed by Roma legend and World Cup winner Daniele De Rossi, finished 16th in Serie A last year and has invested around €30 million in new signings this summer.

Lazio embarrass themselves

Later that evening, relegated Hellas Verona defeated Virtus Entella on penalties. The visitors from Chiavari will be FC Südtirol's first league opponent next Saturday in Serie B. Lazio, however, suffered a humiliating defeat: Gennaro Gattuso's team lost 2-0 at home to Serie B club Mantova at the Stadio Olimpico and were thus eliminated in the first round. David Wieser from Val Gardena was substituted on for the visitors in the 85th minute.
