Everyone must leave: Tabula rasa at AC Milan!

It was meant to be an earthquake – and that's exactly what happened: After the humiliating 1-2 home defeat against Cagliari Calcio, AC Milan reacted and initiated a major overhaul of the club. Those responsible for the missed Champions League qualification have to go – including coach Max Allegri.

Coach Massimiliano Allegri, CEO Giorgio Furlani, sporting director Igli Tare and technical director Geoffrey Moncada were dismissed less than 24 hours after the Disaster against Cagliari All were dismissed. “After the disappointment of last season, the mandate defined by the owners for the club was clear: to return to the Champions League and to create the foundations to remain permanently at the top of Serie A and to win titles,” the club said in an official statement.

"For much of the season, we were in the top two spots in the table and had a real chance of competing for the championship. However, the season finale was significantly below the level we had shown up to that point, and last night's disappointing defeat has made this season a clear failure. Now is the time for changes and a fundamental reorganization of the club's sporting operations," the statement continued.

As you can see, the statement doesn't just announce the measures, but also justifies them in no uncertain terms, especially with the phrase "clear failure." The dismissal of Allegri, who only returned to Milan a year ago, is particularly significant. The former title-winning coach was supposed to steer the Rossoneri back to calmer waters, but his team disappointed, especially in the second half of the season, not only with their style of play but also with their results.
