Atalanta ended 2024 as league leaders, and since then the club has celebrated just one win in four games. On Saturday, the second three points were to be achieved in the home game against Torino - but that did not happen. Instead, La Dea gave away a 1-0 lead through Berat Djimsiti and had to settle for another draw.
The guests from Piedmont responded just five minutes after Atalanta's goal. The Austrian Valentino Lazaro lifted a free kick from around 30 meters into the penalty area, where Guillermo Maripan was carelessly left alone. The Chilean put his head in and equalized to 1:1. Torino did not let the point slip away from them and, with 27 points in 11th place, is now seven points ahead of the first relegation place. Atalanta, on the other hand, remains in third place, six points behind league leaders Napoli - and could grow to nine on Sunday.
Top duo challenged in top games
Given the task that Napoli faces, Atalanta will be even more annoyed by the points they dropped. Antonio Conte's team will face AS Roma on Sunday evening (20.45 p.m.), who have been unbeaten in the league since mid-December.Of course, Inter is also in the race for the Scudetto. The Nerazzurri are three points behind Napoli, but they still have an extra game in hand. Like their competitors from Campania, the reigning champions also have a tough task ahead of them. On Sunday, the Derby della Madonnina against arch-rivals Milan will take place at the San Siro (18.00 p.m.).
