Only sport can write stories like this: Napoli striker Romelu Lukaku had been sidelined with an injury since October, but finally made his long-awaited comeback at the end of January. While he wasn't decisive in his initial brief appearances, he scored the winning goal in Saturday's 2-1 victory against Hellas Verona – in the very last second.
The game began with a dream start for the visitors: less than two minutes in, a cross from Matteo Politano was poorly cleared, falling perfectly to Rasmus Hojlund, who headed home the early 1-0 lead (2'). The game then settled down. This was because Conte's team eased off the gas and adopted a more defensive approach. This worked well for a while – also because the hosts struggled to create chances going forward.
Lukaku keeps Napoli dreaming
While Hojlund missed a great chance just before halftime (Andrias Edmundsson cleared the ball off the line), Hellas Verona grew stronger in the second half and deservedly equalized: After a corner kick, goalscorer Hojlund cleared too short and then decisively deflected Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro's powerful shot – 1:1 (65th minute).Rasmus Hojlund gave Napoli an early lead. © ANSA / Emanuele Pennacchio
Conte reacted and brought on fresh legs, including Lukaku. With the last action of the game, "Big Rom," as the Belgian is known, fired Napoli to victory: After a short corner, Giovane crossed into the middle, where Lukaku held his own and easily slotted the ball home from close range (90+6). It was his first goal of the season, one that keeps Napoli in the title race.Como is getting closer to the Champions League places
Earlier in the afternoon, Como celebrated a 3-1 victory against relegation-threatened Lecce. All goals were scored in the first 45 minutes: after the visitors took the lead, Como completely turned the game around within 26 minutes. Cesc Fabregas' team currently sits in a sensational fifth place, just two points behind the Champions League qualification spots.Serie A, 27th matchday
