Alarm bells are ringing: Juve is trembling for Champions League qualification.

While their direct competitors in the fight for Champions League qualification have done their homework, Juventus suffered a bitter home defeat – and are trembling for the Champions League with one matchday to go.

Five clubs dreamed of Champions League qualification before the 37th matchday of Serie A, and Napoli, at least one club behind already-crowned champions Inter, secured their place in Europe's premier club competition. The Partenopei triumphed 3-0 against bottom-of-the-table Pisa on Sunday. This leaves two Champions League spots still up for grabs – and Juventus suffered a bitter setback in this crucial showdown.

Juventus suffered a 2-0 (1-0) home defeat against Fiorentina, for whom the season is now over. Cher Ndour gave the visitors the lead after a counter-attack (34'), and Juve subsequently failed to capitalize on several clear-cut chances. In the 70th minute, Dusan Vlahovic appeared to have equalized, but the Serbian was ruled offside. Seven minutes from time, Rolando Mandragora curled the ball into the top left corner from 25 meters to seal the victory for La Viola.

Roma, Milan and Como celebrate

This coming Sunday, Juventus' Champions League hopes are only secure with one thing: help from other teams. Because Roma (2-0 against Lazio), Milan (2-1 against Genoa), and Como (1-0 against Parma) all did their homework, the trio overtook the record champions in the league table. Therefore, Juve's fate is no longer in their own hands in the Turin derby (May 24, 3 p.m.), as they trail Milan (15.00rd) and Roma (4th) by two points.

This matchday, particular attention was focused on the Derby Della Capitale between Roma and Lazio. The game had been the subject of much discussion beforehand. Its scheduling has caused considerable discussion. But ultimately, they also impressed on the pitch. Gianluca Mancini became the hero with a brace, the defensive leader scoring twice with headers from corners (40th/66th minute). In the minutes following his 2-0 goal, emotions finally boiled over: During a melee, Wesley and Nicolò Rovella clashed fists and were subsequently sent off.
