The celebrations have begun: Inter are Italian champions for the 21st time.

The fans in the stands of the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza embraced each other, laughing, celebrating, and jumping. On Sunday, Inter secured their 21st Italian championship.

At 10:39 p.m. it was official: Inter returned to the top of the table after a year's absence and celebrated their 21st Scudetto. The Neroazzurri defeated Parma 2-0 at home and, with three games remaining, now have a twelve-point lead over their closest rivals, Napoli. Antonio Conte's team had paved the way for Inter's title win on Saturday with a 0-0 draw against Como.

The match: Both teams started cautiously, with the first real excitement coming after 25 minutes: Pio Esposito laid the ball off to Nicolò Barella, whose powerful shot only rattled the crossbar. The ball then lay in front of the line, but Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki reacted quickly and cleared it ahead of Inter striker Marcus Thuram. However, the home side took the lead before halftime: Piotr Zielinski played a through ball to Thuram, who remained composed in front of Suzuki and beat him with a shot into the far corner (45+1) – the stadium erupted for the first time.

Mkhitaryan puts the lid on it

After the break, the game became somewhat less exciting, partly because Parma no longer desperately needed points: the team from Emilia-Romagna had already secured their place in the top flight. The first real chance came when Federico Dimarco played a dangerous ball into the middle, but Denzel Dumfries blasted it high over the bar (72'). Shortly afterward, a shot from Lautaro Martinez lacked power and posed no problem for Suzuki (78').

"Toro," as he is also known, laid the ball off perfectly for Henrikh Mkhitaryan just two minutes later, who simply had to tap it in – 2-0 for Inter (80'). At this point, the stadium truly erupted, the fans jumping, cheering, and celebrating together in anticipation of their 21st Scudetto. It was finally secured after Davide Frattesi missed another good opportunity. The celebrations then truly began, even in front of Milan Cathedral.
