Thieves ransack his hotel room, he scores for Milan

German national football player Niclas Füllkrug scored his first Serie A goal to secure a home victory for Milan against Lecce. Hours earlier, jewelry worth around €500.000 had been stolen from him.

The striker, who came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute, scored the winning goal just four minutes later, securing a well-deserved 1-0 victory for his new club. Milan remain second in the table, hot on the heels of league leaders and city rivals Inter.

Füllkrug has been loaned from West Ham United to AC Milan until the end of this season. However, his new home hasn't been all celebration for the German; quite the opposite. He experienced a frightening moment on a personal level.

€500.000 worth of jewelry stolen

He was robbed at his new residence in the Lombardy metropolis. According to the Italian police, thieves stole watches and jewelry worth approximately 500.000 euros from the hotel room where he is currently staying.

The Italian HANDLE Reports citing police sources indicate that unknown perpetrators managed to break into the safe while Füllkrug was away. Investigators are now reviewing surveillance camera footage from the hotel and the surrounding area.

Fiorentina leaves the relegation zone

Earlier in the afternoon, Roma had shaken off fifth-placed Juventus. The Old Lady had lost in Cagliari on Saturday, while Roma secured a 2-0 victory against Torino the following day. Match-winner Paulo Dybala set up the opening goal for new signing Donyell Malen and later scored the final goal himself.

Fiorentina also secured an away win – and a hugely important one at that – with a 2-1 victory in Bologna. In the Derby dell'Appennino, Rolando Mandragora and Roberto Piccoli put the visitors from Florence ahead in the first half, with Giovanni Fabbian's late consolation goal for Bologna coming too late. The players in purple dedicated the three points to their President Rocco Commisso, who died on SaturdayFiorentina are now in a non-relegation spot for the first time since the start of the season.
