A bad mistake by Juventus

This slip-up was not necessarily to be expected: Juventus lost the catch-up game against Parma and now even has to worry about the Champions League.

With five games remaining in Serie A, Juventus are currently out of a Champions League spot. The Old Lady is in fifth place in the standings, which qualifies for the Europa League. They are one point behind the fourth and final Champions League spot—currently held by Bologna.

Juventus missed a major opportunity to move into the top four on Wednesday. Igor Tudor's team suffered a 4-0 defeat against Parma, who are still in the midst of their fight to avoid relegation. For new coach Tudor (who replaced the ousted Thiago Motta at the end of March), it was his first defeat as Juve coach.

Parma's Mateo Pellegrino scored the only goal of the game in first-half stoppage time, nodding a cross into the net in pure goal-scoring style. Juventus attacked in the second half, but the Bianconeri couldn't prevent their fourth defeat of the season. Parma and Juventus were supposed to meet on Sunday, but the match was canceled due to the death of Pope Francis.
