Fiorentina draws new courage after derby victory

In Serie A, there are only five points separating 18th place (Lecce) from 13th (Cagliari). Three teams are sandwiched between them with 24 points. One of them is Fiorentina, who won the derby against Pisa 1-0 on Monday evening. For the Violets from the Tuscan metropolis of Florence, it was an important victory – and the prestige came as an added bonus.

Moise Kean scored the much-celebrated winning goal in the 13th minute. The game became hectic towards the end, with Fiorentina picking up numerous yellow cards for time-wasting. Pisa, second-to-last with 15 points and on the brink of relegation, missed a chance to equalize in stoppage time.

Bologna keeps European Cup dreams alive

In Bologna, the home side and Udinese faced off in a direct battle for European qualification. Both teams currently occupy mid-table positions in Serie A, but both have their sights set on the Conference League spots. In the end, Bologna secured a 1-0 victory, with veteran Federico Bernardeschi scoring the winning goal from the penalty spot.
