Genoa shocks Como at the last minute

Como missed the chance to win in the last minute against Genoa and had to settle for a 1:1 draw. Despite a dominant style of play, the visitors were unable to hold on to their lead over time.

While several Italian football teams were in action in international competitions on Thursday, Genoa and Como met in Serie A. Both teams are fighting for a place outside the relegation zone in the league. Today's duel ended in a spectacular 1-1, with Como dominating but not managing to seal the deal.

The Stadio Luigi Ferraris in the Ligurian port city saw a home team that appeared with little confidence and enthusiasm. The blue and red home team did not put in a good performance against Como and allowed themselves to be chased around the pitch by the guests for almost the entire 90 minutes. The industrious style of play of the footballers from Lake Como was rewarded by Lucas Da Cunha in the 17th minute with a shot from the edge of the penalty area to make it 1-0. While Genoa hardly managed anything, Patrick Cutrone scored what appeared to be the 67-2 in the 0th minute, but the VAR referee disallowed it for offside.

At the last minute

Como would later regret this missed opportunity, as Genoa suddenly turned things around in injury time. With a stormy final offensive, the home team managed to score the long-awaited 1:1 through Alessandro Vogliacco, who equalized after a pass from Andrea Pinamonti following a corner.
