“I’m worried”: Is Inter running out of steam?

Defeats in the league and the cup: Inter's strength is threatening to wane at the end of a long football season.

Coach Simone Inzaghi attributed the recent two defeats against Bologna in Serie A and AC Milan in the Cup to the strains of the past weeks and months. "I'm worried, we have to analyze it. We ran out of energy against Milan in the second half," Inzaghi said ahead of Sunday's league match against Roma.

The former striker sees "physical and mental fatigue" in his team. However, he didn't want the reference to the numerous English weeks to be seen as an excuse. "We had a heavier fixture schedule than other clubs, but that's no excuse."

Scudetto decider?

Inter's Coppa exit against Milan has ended their chance of a treble, and the Champions League semifinalist has also recently stumbled in the league. This has allowed Napoli to close the gap on points in the league table. Should the top spot remain level after the last five rounds, a Scudetto playoff will ensue.

AS Roma awaits, an opponent unbeaten in 17 Serie A matches and currently seventh in the table. Napoli will also face tenth-placed Torino on Sunday.
