In the 2017/18 season, AS Roma last qualified for the Champions League. After several years' absence from Europe's premier club competition, fans of the capital club are dreaming of returning to the tournament this season. In their home match against Cagliari, the "Giallorossi" took another step towards a top-four finish. In a one-sided affair, winter signing Donyell Malen scored twice, single-handedly deciding the game. Roma now sit level on points with fourth-placed Juventus in the league table.

The in-form Lombards, who had picked up points in their last six matches and defeated Juventus Turin in the cup last week, prevailed 2-1. Raffaele Palladino's team needed only a strong start to secure the three points. Nikola Krstovic (13th minute) and Davide Zappacosta (25th minute) gave the hosts an early lead.
