Inter regains the lead in the table

Serie A has a new league leader. Inter took advantage of Juventus' mistake and are back in first place. In addition to Lautaro Martinez, goalkeeper Yann Sommer also played a significant role in this.

Inter Milan has regained the lead in Serie A with one game less than rivals Juventus. After the record champions against Empoli yesterday Saturday evening didn't get beyond a draw, the Milanese are now one point ahead at the top of the table. The next matchday could be particularly crucial for the Scudetto. The summit between the two arch-rivals will take place in Milan next weekend.

In the end, Inter celebrated a happy 14-1 away win against Fiorentina thanks to a powerful header from Lautaro Martinez in the 0th minute. The Argentine cleverly broke away from his opponent after a corner and skillfully headed the ball into the home side's net. It was the 26-year-old's 19th goal of the season.

In addition to the offensive artists, goalkeeper Yann Sommer was primarily responsible for the success of the Neroazzurri. With several brilliant saves, the Swiss skilfully stood in the way of the Tuscans' attack efforts. In the first half, the goalkeeper directed a shot from Giacomo Bonaventura over the crossbar and later saved a penalty from Nico Gonzalez in the second half. This is the 35th time that the 13-year-old has kept his box clean.

What else happened?

Genoa previously celebrated a 2-1 home win over Lecce. After initially being behind, the red-blues turned the game around in the second half. It is the second win in a row for the “Grifone”. Monza also celebrated a home win against Sassuolo. The Lombards won 1-0 and are now in 12th place in the table. The game between Hella Verona and Frosinone ended 1-1.

Meanwhile, Napoli is still not getting going under coach Walter Mazzarri and has only won one game in the last five games. In an uneventful game, the southern Italians were unable to get beyond a 0-0 draw away against Lazio. This means that the reigning champions are only in a disappointing ninth place in the table.
