Inter loses ground in the championship battle

Just before the Champions League clash against FC Bayern Munich, Inter dropped important points in the title fight of the series.

At relegation-threatened Parma, Inter – after leading 2-0 at halftime – could only manage a 2-2 draw. The reigning champions are now four points ahead of their closest rivals Napoli. However, the southern Italians have one point less and could move within one point of Inter with an away win in Bologna on Monday.

But there's also some good news for Inter: Lautaro Martinez made his comeback from injury, reporting fit in time for the away game in Munich on Tuesday evening. The captain was substituted after 65 minutes in Parma, a move he didn't approve of. Within nine minutes, Parma equalized in the home game against Inter. The Crociati were subsequently celebrated by their fans.

Monza, on the other hand, has seemingly used up all their energy in the league struggle. The Lombardy side lost 1-3 at home to Fabregas's strong Como team and can slowly but surely plan for Serie B. In the evening match, AC Milan once again failed to cover themselves in glory. The Rossoneri could only manage a 2-2 draw at home against Fiorentina, with Conceicao's team even trailing 0-2. In any case, Milan remains a distant ninth.
