Inter stumbles again: Title race exciting once more

After Pio Esposito gave Inter the lead in the first minute with a header from Nicoló Barella's cross, the home side equalized in the second half. The match ended 1-1. For Fiorentina, these were crucial points in their fight against relegation. Inter's lead over local rivals AC Milan at the top of the table remains at six points with eight rounds remaining.
Inter have now failed to win any of their last four competitive matches. The Nerazzurri simply cannot seem to take a decisive step in the Scudetto race. More than a draw wouldn't have deserved Inter on Sunday evening. The visitors were particularly toothless in the second half. Only Esposito had a decent chance right at the end.

What else happened on Sunday? At midday, Como convincingly defeated newly promoted Pisa 5-0. Cesc Fabregas' team remains firmly on course for Champions League qualification. Like Pisa, Hellas Verona is also facing relegation. Verona lost 1-0 to Atalanta in Bergamo. There were also victories for the Rome clubs. AS Roma won 1-0 at home against Lecce, and Lazio prevailed 2-0 away at Bologna. Both goals were scored by Dutch winter signing Kenneth Taylor.
