Juventus spoils Jannik Sinner's evening

First Formula 1 in Monza, then Serie A in Turin: Jannik Sinner rounded off an eventful Sunday of sports with a classic football match. Right at the end, the tennis star experienced a slight disappointment.

On Sunday afternoon, Jannik Sinner had attracted attention at the Autodromo Nazionale in Monza. As one of the many VIP guests, the self-confessed Formula 1 fan admired Kimi Antonelli's celebrated home victory. Afterwards, they went directly to Turin with their father Hanspeter, where the Serie A match between Juventus and Milan was scheduled to take place that evening.

Sinner has a special connection to both clubs: The world's best tennis player regularly undergoes examinations at JMedical, Juventus' medical department. This was also the case recently due to his knee injury, which caused him to miss the ongoing US Open in New York. The man from Puster Valley has never made a secret of his love for AC Milan.

A gift from the Milan boss

On Sunday, Sinner was given a special honor. After watching both teams warm up from the sidelines, Milan boss Gerry Cardinale presented him with a Rossoneri jersey bearing the number one and Sinner's name. Sinner then took his seat in the VIP section of the Allianz Stadium and watched as the two teams shared the points in a 1-1 draw.

A frustrating moment for Milan and Sinner: The visitors from Milan were leading 1-0 until the 92nd minute, when the advancing Federico Gatti powerfully headed the ball into the net to score the late equalizer for Juve. Previously, the 19-year-old Italian youth international Alphadjo Cissé had put Milan ahead with his second goal of the season (68th minute).

In the end, it was a fair draw and also the first winless match for both clubs this season. Juve had more possession, apart from a clear-cut chance for substitute German newcomer Nick Woltemade in the 75th minute, but hardly any scoring opportunities. This is why Sinner and all Milan fans had hoped for an away win until very late in the game.
