Several arrests at the Turin derby

Following the riots before the Turin football derby, Italian police have arrested eight people.

Authorities have announced that three Juventus Turin fans have been arrested in the act, and five more have been identified after drone footage was analyzed. Several stadium bans have also been issued.

During the riots on Sunday evening, a man was also seriously injured in the head. The 36-year-old was presumably hit by a bottle. The Juventus supporter had to undergo surgery shortly afterwards in a Turin hospital and was treated in the intensive care unit.

Man remains in intensive care

As reported by the Italian news agency ANSA, his condition has remained stable. He remains intubated and under observation in the intensive care unit. Doctors at the hospital are not yet giving the all-clear.

The local derby could not be started on time due to violent clashes between fans and security forces. The two Turin teams finally faced each other at the Stadio Olimpico about an hour late. In the end, FC Turin and Juve drew 2:2 (0:1). Juve thus missed out on Champions League qualification on the last matchday.
