Milan celebrates a victory in Füllkrug's debut

Niclas Füllkrug celebrated his first victory in his debut for Milan. With this win at the start of matchday 18, Massimiliano Allegri's team temporarily took over the top spot in Serie A ahead of their Milanese city rivals, Inter.

Füllkrug was substituted on for goalscorer Rafael Leao in the 69th minute of Inter's 1-0 (0-0) win at Cagliari Calcio. The Portuguese player had scored the decisive goal in the 50th minute. Inter can reclaim first place with a win against Bologna on Sunday.

A few hours before the match, Füllkrug's transfer from West Ham United to AC Milan was officially announced. The 32-year-old center forward will initially be on loan until the end of the season. However, as the traditional Italian club announced, the agreement with West Ham United also includes an option to buy.

No details were released. The Premier League club also made no mention of Füllkrug in their statement. Füllkrug's move to Italy had been anticipated for several days.

Füllkrug was also in talks with Wolfsburg

Füllkrug moved from Borussia Dortmund to London for almost €30 million after Euro 2024. Injury problems and two managerial changes at West Ham have prevented him from making a breakthrough in the Premier League. VfL Wolfsburg were also reportedly interested in Füllkrug.
