After Inter criticism: Calhanoglu hits back

Hakan Calhanoglu has come under fire. Now, for the first time, the Turk has spoken out publicly about the allegations – and in clear language.

“If you don’t want to stay, you should go,” complained Inter’s captain Lautaro Martinez after the 0-2 defeat in the round of XNUMX against Fluminense from Rio de Janeiro. The Champions League finalist from Milan now ends its season without a title.

Calhanoglu has now responded to the harsh criticism via social media: "I respect every opinion, (...) but respect is a two-way street." He said he "never betrayed Inter. And I never said I wasn't happy. The words hurt me. As captain of my national team, I know that a true leader would never blame someone else."

Martinez was fed up after the disappointment in Charlotte. "I won't name names, but I saw a lot of things I didn't like." When asked about his captain's comments, club president Giuseppe Marotta revealed: "He was probably referring to Calhanoglu's situation, which we want to resolve as soon as possible."

Is he moving to Turkey?

According to media reports, the 31-year-old Turk, who missed the Club World Cup due to injury, wants to leave the club despite a contract running until 2027. The former Hamburger SV and Bayer Leverkusen player is said to be moving to Galatasaray Istanbul, where former Bayern striker Leroy Sané will play in the future.
