Another victory: Kofler and Cagliari on a roll

Raphael Kofler and Cagliari have made a dream start to Serie A: The Sardinians secured their third victory in their fourth game on Saturday evening.

Who would have thought it? After four matchdays in Serie A, Cagliari are sensationally in fourth place. Following victories against Parma and Lecce (both 1-0), Raphael Kofler and his teammates surprised everyone on Saturday evening by beating Atalanta 2-1 away.

In Bergamo, 19-year-old Paul Mendy put the underdogs ahead thanks to a swift counter-attack initiated by Michel Adopo. Maurizio Sarri's team responded in the 41st minute through Gianluca Scamacca. However, Cagliari remained resilient and regained the lead through a converted penalty by Daniel Maldini. The striker was substituted in the 79th minute, making way for Kofler, who helped his teammates hold onto their narrow lead until the final whistle.

Milan pulls back from 0-2 down

The fact that coach Fabio Pisacane brought him on during such a critical phase shows that Kofler enjoys great trust from his manager. The start to his Serie A adventure couldn't have gone better for the 21-year-old.

Lazio, meanwhile, let a home win slip away in their top-of-the-table clash against AC Milan, but still managed to take over the Serie A lead, at least temporarily. The Romans were on the verge of their fourth win in four games with a 2-0 halftime lead, but substitute Diego Moreira equalized for Milan with a brace within two minutes (65th, 67th). Roma and Inter, still unbeaten after three rounds, can add to their tally on Monday.
