Napoli like a top team, Juve not

Champions Napoli made a strong showing on Sunday evening in the top Serie A match with a home win against Juventus.

The return of former title-winning coach Luciano Spalletti to Naples ended in disaster: The new Juve coach lost 1-2 with the Old Lady against Napoli. In the league table, the reigning champions thus take over the top spot, at least temporarily, while Juventus have fallen behind. The Old Lady is now eight points behind Napoli in seventh place.

For Napoli fans, a victory against arch-rivals Juventus is of particular importance. Since Antonio Conte has been relying on the dynamic attacking trio of Lang, Neres, and Hojlund, the Vesuvius side has been performing better. Neres provided a brilliant assist for Hojlund's early 1-0 lead. In the closing stages, the Dane completed his brace with a header, securing the victory.

In contrast, Juventus' lack of pace and squad quality is repeatedly evident against top teams. Their rivals for Champions League qualification have already dropped points. AS Roma lost 1-0 in Cagliari, and Bologna could only manage a 1-1 draw against Lazio. On Monday evening, AC Milan visit Torino. Then Allegri's team can overtake Napoli in the table.
